Clubes de Ciencia Arizona 2021
An electron's point of view: How the quantum world influences materials.
The Botana group partnered with Clubes de Ciencia Arizona (CdeCAz) to hold a week long science club for high school students in the metro-phoenix area. During the week, we explored:
- superconductivity via live demonstration,
- the basic anatomy of an atom,
- how electrons behave in a material,
- how to write basic computer programs in the Julia programming language,
- how scientists study materials using computers (e.g., density-functional theory)
- how to perform our own calculations for the novel material, graphene.
The course materials are available online.
